Days in the Den

I remember like it was yesterday
Sitting with my beloved friends
On the age old balcony
Looking up to the wide drying garden
Of grasses, leaves and sweet melancholy
Darling deities dangling with the cosmos
Beside the soft sunflowers
Within our serene surreal eyes
Full of hopes, dismays and longings
As we chit chat on the very topics
We would never  remember
Only the file of eucalyptus
Blowing with the wind
From east to west
From west to east
Right before their fate to twist
I remember how I used to feel
With clouds chasing the sun
The angry son of god
Laying the carpet of shadows
Over the lush green playgrounds
And the sea breeze
Giving us all a fake charm of a poet
Like we could secretly imagine ourselves to be,
A romantic hero
From a Venetian art history
Even now when I see
Lofty cloud flying over the trees
Or the thunders clapping
I go back to those days
With my friends, the garden and that same old balcony
