Team Building of Commercial desks (sales + CS), MCC Transport, AP Moller Maersk Group

Ocean’s 11

11 guys!! Riding into sands on a hot summer’s day, each one with a different talent from a different corner of the country. Everyone has his own vision but today, they have a common agenda.
NO !!! This is not the starting of yet another sequel of Ocean’s 11. I am writing about the beginning of an unprecedented Team Building Session of MCC Transport commercial desks (Sales & CS) Bangladesh (7-9th June, 2012)that took place on the longest natural sandy sea beach on earth, Cox’s Bazzar.

So what happened?
An entire series of fun activities, drama, shopping, singing, diving into the sea and so on….
Your experiences @ MCC –
A session that made us pour our hearts out to our near and dear colleagues. Lots of bitter-sweet memories were flying around the growling sea. One of our colleagues shared his gruesome experience in calming a boisterous client, while a newly joined CS colleague expressed his appreciation to seniors for not losing their patience at the face of his endless questions.

Drama ! Drama ! Drama !!!  -
A drama session took place where two teams of customer service and one team of sales acted out customers’ frustration and their ways of dealing with it. Mutual anger and tug-of-war between sales and customer service were the focus of the plays, followed by a discussion conducted by the country manager on how to bridge these gaps and excel through everyday work of facing these challenges in harmony.

“Magic Carpet” -
This was a game where two teams, one with 4 healthy colleagues and another with 5 skinny ones, needed to turn around a bed cover (3’ x 4’) standing on it and without touching the ground. We the members of the Fat Pack had in fact beaten the odds under a minute and managed to seize the glorious chocolate bar trophies.

Into the Blue -
At noon, it was time for the wild bunch to go diving like dolphins. Splashing the salty waters at each others’ face, dipping into the roaring waves and floating on buoys under the blazing sun took us all back to those vacations in school days.

Shopper’s delight -
Now this was a real tricky task. Each member had to buy 11 identical items to offer as gifts to his colleagues within a very limited budget. With only 2 hours in hand before dinner, all of us rushed to the market and the result was a round of WOWs!!!
A surprise gift from MCC was indeed a sublime touch of affinity in the end.

Unplugged @ 2am –
At around 2 am in the morning, our Country Manager flew from five rooms away and joined our unplugged concert that was taking place on the 2nd floor of the hotel with loud enough vocals to keep the whole building awake.

When director Steven Soderbergh was directing Ocean’s eleven in the Bellagio, little did he know that another cast of 11 real life actors of MCC Transport, Bangladesh would act out their very famous, very own roles in the grand session of Commercial Team Building.

After all the fun and sharing I can only say, when the colors are hoisted high, this must be the spirit of the group you are in.
